PDRM

Working with experts in earthquake engineering from the University of Sheffield, PDRM was the first of two projects on developing technologies to support the crisis response following an earthquake. Focusing on industrial zones in Turkey, PDRM concentrated on developing an application that could help managers of buildings account for and locate staff following an earthquake that may have left the building unsafe or inaccessible to first responders. The approach used Bluetooth Low Energy devices, NFC and QR-code check-ins for indoor localisation and headcounts at evacuation and assembly points. The application is integrated with other incident management systems to support overall disaster response mechanisms.
