AESOP

Applied engagement for community participation
two police community support officers in a night scene

AEsOP is an educational game to raise awareness of community policing; it was an outcome of the UNITY project. AEsOP provides the user with twelve scenarios, each focusing on a different type of criminality. The game puts the user in the shoes of various community actors, including the police, allowing them to play through multiple interactive stories. Each AEsOP scenario has branching decision paths to reveal how different actors and community participation approaches can help prevent and reduce the impact of local crime issues. Players gain points according to the six pillars of community policing from the Unity project and demonstrate how there is often no single best solution to resolving a specific problem.
