OSPREY project launches to strengthen online safety for elected officials and police forces
On 2nd and 3rd December 2025, CENTRIC officially launched the OSPREY project with a successful kick-off meeting hosted in Sheffield.
OSPREY (Online Safety and Security for Protection of Public-Facing Professionals and Democratic Resilience) aims to improve the understanding and awareness of online risks and harms affecting elected officials and members of police forces. As public-facing professionals, elected officials and police personnel are essential to our democracy, yet increasingly exposed to online threats, harassment, and abuse. Such attacks undermine personal wellbeing, constrain professional activity and erode public trust in democratic institutions.
Over the next 36 months, it will develop technical and non-technical capabilities to improve the online protection of elected professionals and members of police, developing practical solutions to address the full spectrum of threats, both proactively and reactively.
OSPREY is coordinated by CENTRIC and combines 17 partners from 12 countries.
