Arthur Jones

Researcher

Arthur holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Computing and a Master of Science by Research in Computer Science from the University of Lincoln. During his academic journey in Lincoln, he actively contributed to various innovative research projects. These ranged from exploring augmented reality as a tool for training in food health and safety to utilising motion capture technology to document Nicaraguan-inspired dance routines for psychological research on body image. His MSc research culminated in a publication titled "Experiencing Simulated Confrontations in Virtual Reality," presented at the 2021 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems. 

At CENTRIC, Arthur is a part of the Serious Games team and has primarily focused on Virtual Reality projects. His work focuses on how VR technology can be utilised by policing, security, and military stakeholders to enhance capabilities, from improving situational awareness to creating engaging learning and training applications. Building on his MSc research, Arthur is particularly interested in using VR to train individuals for challenging confrontational scenarios. He has taken a leading role in the CoLabXR and CyberSpotlightVR projects and has contributed to several prominent EU projects, including INFINITY, WELCOME, GRACE, POLIIICE, TESTUDO, and VANGUARD. Arthur has also had the opportunity to present the work of the Serious Games team at international events. These include the NATO MSG-210 18th Workshop on Commercial Technologies and Games for Use in NATO and Nations in Rome, as well as the 10th International Conference of the Immersive Learning Research Network in Glasgow.
