From 11th to 13th March 2025, the CENTRIC team attended Security & Policing 2025, the UK Government’s premier global security event, held at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre. Organised by the Home Office’s Joint Security & Resilience Centre (JSaRC), the event brought together industry leaders, government officials, and senior figures in law enforcement and national security to explore cutting-edge developments in security and resilience.

During the event, CENTRIC Director Prof. Babak Akhgar delivered a presentation on the wide-reaching impact of Horizon Europe for CENTRIC, the broader end-user community, and the UK security ecosystem. Dr. Helen Gibson, Head of Innovation at CENTRIC, showcased the Horizon 2020 developed capabilities for combating child sexual exploitation material (CSEM), created as part of the EU-funded GRACE Project. This contributed to a session designed to highlight how participation in European funding programmes provide direct and indirect benefits to the UK security sector.

Additionally, Prof. Akhgar led a forward-looking discussion with colleagues from Innovate UK and representatives from the UK Home Office on the opportunities available through the Horizon Europe Civil Security research programme. The session underlined the strategic importance of continued UK engagement in European research to address complex security challenges collaboratively.

As previously reported, at S&P CENTRIC project 3PO also received the 2025 Security and Policing Academic Innovation Award while we also had the opportunity to present the current progress of the ENACT project.
